OUT OF THE SHADOWS

"Nina's story is a brave and courageous depiction of how faith and love can overcome some of the most hurtful and hidden challenges that perhaps many of our young people today may be enduring.  Her life experience provides for all of us hope that we can endure and finish strong through any of life's battles."

THE REVIEW:

Nina Perez Reed does an exceptional job of telling the story of her life with all its difficulties and challenges.  She begins by telling of her first nine years, living in  Mexico  with her mother and siblings, where they experienced poverty but also accumulated many happy memories.  Her life changed dramatically when her father brought the family to the  United States  to live with him in  Southern California .  This is where the story of her life and the difficulties she encountered actually begins.

During the next several years, as a young girl from  Mexico  living and going to school in  California, Nina faced rejection at school, a language barrier, constant criticism and physical abuse from her domineering father and an extremely heavy work load for a child.  It was during this time that she decided she would never give up on herself and would devote as much time and energy as possible toward working for a better life!  Quite a big decision for one so young, but as the reader will see while reading her story, she remained true to her goals and beat the odds!

Nina Perez Reed has written a book that is a must read for anyone who needs to find validation and hope.  It would also be helpful for anyone who is trying to help someone else who is dealing with serious life issues.  At the end of each chapter there is a section designed to help the reader reflect on what the author has said and apply it to his or her own life experiences.

This format can be used by an individual who is searching for answers or in a small group setting where discussion and sharing are encouraged.  Either way, the reader is invited to explore life changing options while drawing on the strength and courage of the author who is speaking eloquently from her own personal experiences.

Nina Perez Reed has reached a high level of professional success and personal satisfaction. She has come to terms with her father and has forgiven him for the heartache he caused her as she was growing up.  Her story will resonate with anyone who is looking for hope in a world of darkness.

Readers will be entertained, enlightened and most of all encouraged by this remarkable book!
